Matt Kemp's time with the Los Angeles Dodgers has become cloudy.

Kemp is hitting .255/.317/.438 and his struggles defensively in center field have led Don Mattingly to play him at the corners.

David Schoenfield of ESPN writes that the Seattle Mariners may be a good fit for Kemp if the Dodgers decide to trade him.

"It makes a lot of sense and the Mariners are the team that should take a chance that Kemp, who turns 30 in September, still has a lot of good baseball left in him," he writes.

The Baltimore Orioles are the "leading team of interest" for Jeff Samardzija ahead of the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.

There is mutual interest between the Orioles and Chicago Cubs. Baltimore has a lot of young pitching in their system.

The Cubs recently had one of their top talent evaluators at a minor league game in the Baltimore system.

The Texas Rangers have suffered from a rash of injuries, but Jon Daniels isn't ready to declare the club sellers ahead of the July 31 trade deadline.

"Same as we always were ... we're in May," Daniels said. "The players aren't giving up, and we certainly aren't either. Obviously, we have been dealt some challenges and we're taking them as we come. We'll continue to evaluate it and let it play out. We'll make adjustments if we have to, but we're not getting ahead of ourselves."

Nothing appears imminent, but the Boston Red Sox are exploring the trade market for outfielders.

Jackie Bradley, Jr. has struggled this season, creating a need in center.

The Texas Rangers may be in need of a first baseman and have inquired with the Washington Nationals about Tyler Moore, according to a source.

Nothing is serious and the Rangers have a long list of first baseman they are interested in.

Prince Fielder is out for the season because of a herniated disc in his neck.

The New York Yankees are in need of pitching help and Jeff Samardzija is perhaps the most attractive option available on the trade market.

The 29-year-old can't become a free agent until after the 2015 season and has the lowest ERA in the National League.

Samardzija said he finds it easy to deal with the outside noise of trade possibilities.

"When you get asked about it the 15th or 16th time, it usually becomes just another question. So it doesn't really bother me too much," he  explained. "… So I just look forward to going out there and getting the ball every fifth day. It just so happens it's against a great team and a great organization like the Yankees. I look forward to having a good day."

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired Raul Valdes from the Houston Astros in exchange for a player to be named later and cash considerations.

Houston claimed the 36-year-old Valdes off waivers from Philadelphia this past offseason and opened the season with him in their bullpen.

The Boston Red Sox are exploring multiple options to upgrade the left side of their infield, including making calls on possible trades, according to a source.

They currently have Brock Holt at third base with Will Middlebrooks on the disabled list with a fractured index finger on his right hand.

The Red Sox are currently 25th in the majors for OPS at the third base position (.592), totaling a .200 batting average at the position.

Hal Steinbrenner says the New York Yankees are willing to spend to upgrade a pitching staff that has been torn apart by injuries.

"[We're] always willing to look at options come July. Come the trade deadline," Steinbrenner said. "And I think we've shown that. Some years we've done stuff, like last year with [Alfonso] Soriano. Some years we haven't. But we're not going to ever lay down and die. We're going to do what we need to do to stay in."

In addition to money, the Yankees will also need to include prospects in a deal for someone like Cliff Lee, Jeff Samardzija or Bronson Arroyo.

The Oakland Athletics have acquired Kyle Blanks from the San Diego Padres in exchange for minor-league outfielder Jake Goebbert and a player to be named later.

Blanks has 28 home runs and 715 Major League at-bats, but has had issues staying healthy.
